We received an email from the son of a 55-year-old man from Brighton who was involved in an air crash and sustained serious personal injuries. He had read about our no win no fee compensation claim service online and was enquiring on his father's behalf to see if we could help him to pursue an injury claim.

aeroplane travelling to Cyprus He told us that his father's passenger injuries occurred while he was travelling to Cyprus to visit an old army pal who fought alongside him in the Falklands War. They had been planning the trip for several years and the man's son had been helping him to save for his air fare.

On the morning of the trip the man arrived at Gatwick, checked in and boarded the plane. He sat down and strapped himself in to his seat and prepared for take off. The take off was good and the journey was fine until they started to hover over Italy and the turbulence got too much.

Everyone was warned to stay strapped into their seats because the plane was very unsteady. At the time of the announcement the man was in the toilet and as he made his way back to the safety of his seat a sudden roll of the plane sent a hostess and her trolley flying towards him. The man held out his hands in front to try and stop the trolley from hitting him but the force was too much and the trolley hit the man, pinning him up against the entrance to the cockpit.

The impact crushed the man's arm which resulted in a fractured radius and a fractured ulna as well as bruising to his internal organs and severe winding. The air hostess suffered a sprained ankle and a head injury in the collision and various passengers were complaining of neck and shoulder pain.

A cabin crew member attended to the passenger injuries as best he could and the injured passengers were rushed to a local hospital as soon as the plane landed. The man was admitted for four days and was released on the condition that he rested and he was able to stay with his friend and enjoy the rest of his holiday before being flown back home.

When he arrived home his son, who was clearly concerned, met him from the airport and told him that he had been doing some research into how he could claim personal injury compensation. His father said that he was disappointed that he hadn't spent more time with his friend and that he was still suffering from a great deal of pain but insisted that he couldn't be bothered with stuffy solicitors, court appearances and such like. His son said he would make some enquiries and filled in one of our online assessment forms.

We called the young man back at a time that he had stated as convenient and we explained that we would appoint a personal injury solicitor to the case who would explain the whole process in plain English, without using legal jargon and would offer his father free legal advice along the way.

When he asked us to estimate how much the compensation case would cost we told him that we not only work on a no win no fee basis but our customer's are not required to pay a penny towards costs or fees, regardless of the outcome of their case. We also assured him that his father would receive every penny of compensation awarded to him. He agreed that YouClaim sounded just like the sort of company that his father would be happy with.

His father went ahead with the claim against the British airline company that he was travelling with. They admitted that they had not made sure that their passengers were secured in their seats in time and that they had not taken adequate measures to ensure their safety. They made an out of court offer of £8,900 to cover both general and special damages because they were keen to avoid media attention and the man accepted the offer.
