A successful no win, no fee claim after a car accident
When our customers first approach us, many are concerned about how much money making a compensation claim is going to cost them. They may have heard stories in the news of personal injury firms charging hundreds or thousands of pounds for their services and successful claimants walking away with little or no compensation.
Many of these stories are true since there are a great number of unscrupulous firms out there. However, YouClaim is different because as well as working on a no win, no fee basis we also promise that your claim will not cost you a penny.
How we are able to provide a totally cost-free service can be seen in this case study of one of our recent customers, a 21-year-old woman who was injured in a car accident.
A no win, no fee case study
Our customer had been approaching a set of traffic lights when they turned red and she had to brake
firmly. Unfortunately, the car behind her had been travelling too fast and too close. The driver failed to stop
in time and hit our customer's car from behind at approximately 25 mph.
Her car was rammed forwards and hit one of the traffic light structures. Our customer suffered a fractured leg and a whiplash injury in the car accident and was taken straight to hospital. The fracture was found to be quite straightforward and did not need to be operated upon.
She came to YouClaim five months after her car crash. Her leg had healed nicely but she was still suffering headaches and neck pain from the whiplash injury. She knew that she wanted to claim for personal injury compensation but was very worried about how much it would cost her to do so.
We explained that our personal injury solicitors work on a no win, no fee basis, which means that she would not have to pay their fees if her claim was unsuccessful. Read more about what no win, no fee is.
She was also told that After The Event (ATE) insurance would be taken out on her behalf but would not cost her anything. This insurance would protect her from liability for any costs should her car accident claim not succeed.
We went on to say that, on the other hand, if her claim is successful everything would be paid for by the insurance company of her opponent, the 57-year-old man who had driven into the back of her.
Finally, she was assured that at no time would she have to pay any money towards any disbursements, such as medical reports or accident reports, which would be needed to prove her claim. Read more about disbursements.
She decided that she would like to go ahead with the no win, no fee claim if it would not cost her any money. We arranged for one of our personal injury solicitors, a specialist in road accident cases and whiplash injuries, to start researching her case that very day.
Liability was quickly admitted by our customer's opponent, although it took a little longer for a settlement amount to be agreed. Three months after our customer had first come to us, we were pleased to tell her that her opponent had offered 8,500 in personal injury compensation. She readily accepted the offer and soon received a cheque for the full amount.
Our customer was very pleased that she did not have to pay a penny at any time to make the no win, no fee claim and was thoroughly satisfied with the result.
