Council pavement claim crackdown

Blackpool council are attempting to lessen the amount of compensation claims which are mounting up from people that suffer personal injuries as a result of tripping on damaged pavements.

Most of these accident claims are originating from trips that happened at five specific roads with bad paving in the area.

Payouts in the last three years have reached over 1m as 135 people have tripped and suffered personal injuries on pavements in Blackpool .

Councillors are expected to make a request to the Executive Committee for 210,000 to repair the pavements, which will significantly decrease the amount that they have to pay out in compensation at present.
