Seven siblings killed in tragic road traffic accident

Seven children who were all adopted by a single family have been killed in a horrific road traffic accident in America .

The children, aged between 21 months and 15, were in a car that was crushed between a lorry and a stationary school bus, bursting into flames and killing them all instantly.

A 15-year-old girl was driving illegally and the children were unaccompanied when the vehicle accident happened in rural Florida. Evidence from the scene suggested that the lorry, which was carrying a full load of bottled water, did not brake before hitting the Pontiac and ramming it into the back of the bus.

The bus ended up 200 feet from the smash and the cab of the truck overturned. Three children on the school bus were rushed to hospital with serious personal injuries and remain in a critical condition in intensive care.

The drivers of the bus and the lorry were also taken to hospital with minor injuries and police are planning to interview them both when they are in a fit state.

Lieutenant Mike Burroughs of the Florida Highway Patrol described the crash site, saying, "It's a very chaotic scene. It's just a mangled, charred mess."

The victims of the road traffic accident have been named as 15-year-old driver Nicki Mann, siblings Elizabeth Mann, also 15; Johnny Mann, 13; Heaven Mann, three; as well as Ashley Kenn, 13; Miranda Finn, eight; and little Anthony Lamb who was nearly two.

An aunt of the children, who all lived together, said, "It's not describable. A whole chunk of our family is just gone.

"We're all kind of numb, trying to figure out what happens next."
