Publican died from asbestosis
The inquest into the death of a Bracknell publican, James Sullivan, found the cause of death as being asbestosis, which had caused bronchial pneumonia.
He had been ill for some time, and had been diagnosed with suspected asbestosis. The diagnosis was confirmed in his post mortem, when asbestos fibres were found in his lungs.
The verdict given in the inquest was that of death by industrial disease.
It has not been revealed when Mr Sullivan came into contact with asbestos, but he had served in the merchant navy for some time earlier in his working life.
Mr Sullivan ran ‘The Golden Farmer’ in Easthampstead with his partner Cindy Wood in the year before his death, and was a popular landlord. He died aged 64.
