Paralysed worker makes multi-million pound accident claim

A workman left paralysed after a horrific incident on the site of the old Edinburgh Royal Infirmary is making an accident claim for 5million.

Vincent Wallace received serious personal injuries when he was crushed against a concrete pillar by a mechanical digger, and is lodging the compensation claim against his former employer, London-based Keltbray Plant Ltd.

Mr Wallace was as an asbestos remover when the work accident happened, and was waiting to jump-start a faulty lifting machine when the digger hit him. His personal injury solicitors allege that the driver of the digger was not properly qualified to be using the vehicle and reversed blindly into Wallace.

He saw it coming and tried to jump out of the way, but was not quick enough and ended up being pinned against a pillar. His injuries were so severe that he will never be able to work again and will require nursing care for the rest of his life.

Solicitors acting on behalf of Keltbray say their clients dispute the accident claim and are willing to face Mr Wallace in court.
