Motorcyclist awarded £184,000 in compensation
A motorcyclist who was injured when she collided with a pedestrian who had stepped into the road in front of her has won £184,728 through a motorcycle accident claim.
The motorcyclist, Ms Ratter, suffered a fractured forearm and collarbone, dislocated wrist and a period of unconsciousness after the pedestrian walked out into the path of the motorbike. Ms Ratter was travelling at 60 mph, which the Court deemed to be reasonable for the conditions, when the motorcycle accident happened.
The pedestrian, Ms Halcrow, was not seriously injured, and denied liability.
The judge presiding in the case found in favour of Ms Ratter, and awarded her £13,780 for the damage to the motorcycle and for the pain and suffering which she experienced from her injuries, and awarded the remainder of the compensation for past and future loss of earnings.
