Horse rider wins spinal injury claim
A lady who fell from a horse and suffered a serious spinal injury that left her paralysed from the waist down has been successful in her claim for compensation. The claim was made against the owner of the horse, who had failed to inform Sally Wilson, the rider of the horse, of an accident in which the horse had been hurt.
When Mrs Wilson mounted her, the horse reared up as a result of the damage she had sustained in her accident, and Mrs Wilson fell onto the concrete floor, seriously injuring her spine.
It was found that the owners of the horse had failed in their common law duty of care to Mrs Wilson, and £1.5 million was awarded to her.
Mrs Wildon’s solicitor said of the successful claim: "Whilst no amount of money can turn back the clock, the damages will enable her to enjoy a much better quality of life."
