Scotland Juniors goalie breaks his leg in a fatal road traffic accident

Ian Wilson goalkeeper for Scotland’s Pollock Juniors has broken his leg and dislocated his ankle in a road traffic accident which tragically left a pensioner dead. An 84 year old man died at the scene after reportedly driving the wrong way up the A80 dual carriageway in Cumbernauld in Scotland.

The road traffic accident took place in heavy snow and Ian Wilson sustained a personal injury when his Honda Accord collided with the 84 year old’s Ford Fiesta. A Rover 800 driven by a female was also involved and the woman has since been released from hospital.

The accident occurred just weeks after a £22 million upgrade has been completed on the A80 at the junction where the car crash took place. There were around 290,60 7 casualties arising from road traffic accidents in the UK in 2003. The government aims to tackle the large number of car crashes by 2010 and hopes to reduce the amount of deaths by 40%.
