£3.7m for work accident injuries

A man working on scaffolding who had a work accident has been awarded £3.7m in compensation by the High Court. Wayne Moore suffered serious brain injuries in 2000 when he fell 40 feet from scaffolding because a hand rail came free from its socket.

The claim was made against SGB Holland BV, the firm that supplied the scaffolding, as it was found that it was a defect in the scaffolding that had caused the handrail to become unsafe.

Mr Moore suffered a serious brain injury and several bone fractures in his work accident, and his personality has been permanently affected as a result of his head injury. His vision and sense of smell have also been impaired, and he will require care throughout his life as a result of his injuries.

His solicitor said: “With the money it has been possible to buy and adapt a house suitable for Wayne 's needs and employ the team of carers needed to help him with his daily life.

“Wayne and his family are delighted with the outcome of the case and are happy that the damages Wayne is to receive will ensure he receives the care he needs for the rest of his life.”
