The trigger pack is comprised of one side of ammonium nitrate and the other side of water. When the helmet detects traumatic impact, the two fuse, creating a cooling reaction, which, claims the products creator, cools the head and brain, reducing the potential for neurological damage and that most fatal motorbike injury of all, brain damage.
The cooling effect lasts for around 45 minutes and with the helmet also set to feature a GPS tracking device, its life-saving potential is being embraced by a number of military organisations keen on saving the lives of soldiers.
Julian Preston-Powers, the inventor of the helmet, comments, "This is a hugely exciting innovation that has the potential to save thousands of lives around the world every year."
