Over the years we have helped thousands of people to get compensation following a diagnosis of industrial deafness. Our personal injury solicitors have specialist knowledge of this area of personal injury law and as a result are invariably successful in the cases that they handle.
One such case was that of a 60-year-old man who worked in a quarry for over 30 years.
Case study - Quarry worker
Our customer has been working in the quarrying industry for more than 30 years, formerly as a quarry
operative and more recently as an engineer. During his many years of work at the rock quarry, he has
been exposed to numerous explosions and loud drilling.
Unfortunately, he was not provided with proper
hearing protection during his early days in the quarry
and even up to 10 years ago the precautions were
inadequate. He now has 70% hearing loss in both
ears, as well as intermittent tinnitus and has
recently been diagnosed with industrial deafness.
He has had to give up his job as it requires him to be able to communicate with his co-workers in a noisy environment, which he now finds difficult.
He decided to make a compensation claim against his employers at the quarry and came to YouClaim
because he wanted a cost-free service. One of our most experienced personal injury solicitors agreed to
represent him in his industrial deafness claim and managed to gather a great deal of evidence that could
be used against his former employer.
The employer accepted liability nine months into the claim and, after a further month of settlement negotiation, a total of 15,000 was awarded to our customer. True to our word, we did not charge him a penny at any time during his claim and he kept 100% of the industrial deafness compensation awarded to him.
