Although it might not usually constitute the kind of situation that necessitates the representation of a birth injury lawyer, miscarriage will always be a very distressing experience, particularly if hospital staff are insensitive in their dealings with those affected.
For many, miscarriage will be one of life's most painful and traumatic experiences and, if doctors and nurses are not sensitive to this, medical staff may only augment this.
As a result, Mumsnet, an increasingly influential website for mothers and families has launched a campaign to try and improve the levels of support and understanding received by women who miscarry.
Justine Roberts, co-founder of Mumsnet, comments, "We took up the campaign because we were shocked by the many tales of what can only be described as heartlessness.
"Of course miscarriage is painful and there's no getting away from that, but we feel that a few simple changes could make a big difference to the level of trauma that miscarrying parents undergo.
"For example, some women have told us how they were left, while miscarrying, in antenatal clinics and/or on labour wards, surrounded by pregnant women and pictures of babies. It's very distressing for that to happen, and it shouldn't be happening."
The Mumsnet campaign is spearheaded by a list of ten recommendations designed to "make the experience of miscarriage less traumatic". Although no promises have been made the Department of Health has said that it will examine the recommendations in full.
The full list of recommendations can be found here.
Medical negligence compensation lawyers
Negligence or substandard maternity care can change lives forever. If you feel that the care you or your child received failed to meet accepted standards of clinical practice, we can help you assess whether you might be entitled to receive compensation.
At YouClaim we have a team of experience birth injury lawyers who work right across the UK, specialising in securing their clients 100 percent compensation.
Although no amount of money will ever truly compensate for the pain and suffering caused by substandard or negligent maternity care, it can at least help provide for its practical fallout, while also providing recognition of the errors made.
Although the complexity of this kind of litigation prevents us from offering a cost free service, we do promise to keep all costs to a minimum while also warning of them in advance. Furthermore, all of these are reimbursable in the event of a won case as the majority of ours are.
All birth injury lawyers on our panel are drawn from firms governed by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, a Law Society body.
